Letter to Parents

September 8, 2016                                   Student’s Name____________________

Dear Parent(s),

Hello, my name is Scott Worsham and I am your son or daughter’s mathematics teacher this year at Creswell High School.  This is my 21st  year of teaching and I’m truly excited about this school year.  A little bit about myself – I grew up in Eastern Washington in a little town called Pateros.  While there I participated in football, basketball, and baseball.  As my school’s Salutatorian, I honestly believe in students working hard and earning a solid education.  The opportunities are endless.  I later attended college at Whitworth University, located in Spokane, WA and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.  While there I was also a four-letterman in baseball.  And within the last few years earned a Master’s degree from Western Governor’s University in Secondary Mathematics Education.

I’m writing to let you know my hope is for your child to be successful in my class.  To do so it will take hard work and being respectful, responsible, and safe at all times in and out of class.  Your student will need some class materials to be prepared and successful as well, which include:

  1. Pencil
  2. Notebook
  3. Scientific Calculator

Pre-Calculus & AP Stats

  1. Pencil
  2. Notebook
  3. Graphing Calculator – TI-83 or TI-84

It’s important that either a Scientific Calculator for Geometry or a TI-83 or TI-84 Graphing Calculator for Pre-Calculus or AP Stats be purchased before September 19th  if possible.  You may want to look online (Amazon.com or Craigslist), Wal-Mart, Bi-Mart, Staples, Office Depot, and/or any store that carries one.

If you have any questions or concerns along the way, need to check in with your student, or set up an appointment to talk, feel free to call or email me.

Thanks for your support and here’s to a great school year!

Mr. Scott Worsham
