A Bulldog Summer

What did you do over the summer break?

Written by CHS Teacher Kori Wanner

From June 25 through July 4, eight Creswell High School students and their Spanish teacher traveled around Costa Rica experiencing some of the amazing nature and adventure activities it has to offer. Recently graduated seniors Carly Ayer, Josh Lezcano, Logan Kenworthy, Shahalie Evans, and Reggie Sizemore, incoming senior Maddy Marrs, and former CHS students Haley and Blaine Rodolf all accompanied Kori Wanner for the 10-day trip.

The trip started and ended in Costa Rica’s capital San Jose where we explored some markets and a coffee plantation. From there we traveled to La Fortuna near the Arenal Volcano where we kayaked on Arenal Lake, hiked in a thunderstorm near the volcano, climbed 500 steps down and up near La Fortuna Waterfall, and relaxed in natural hot springs. Next we traveled to Monteverde where we hiked through the cloud forest, went horseback riding with distant views of the Pacific Ocean, and zip lined on over 4km of cable. Then we went down to the Pacific Coast where we looked for crocodiles in a river and saw a mama sloth and her baby while riding an aerial tram. We also spent a day playing on the beach in Manuel Antonio National Park where we saw more sloths as well as monkeys, raccoons, and deer. Then back to San Jose and back home.

This trip was filled with so many incredible experiences. Everyone’s favorites were the day at the beach, zip lining, horseback riding, and of course meeting American and Costa Rican celebrities! We also loved the huge thunder and lightning storms we experienced in the mountains. As a teacher, I was very proud that all my students spoke in Spanish with Costa Ricans we met during our travels. It was definitely a trip that none of us will forget!

You can check out lots of photos on Instagram @chsbulldogsabroad. Contact Ms. Wanner at kwanner@creswell.k12.or.us or attend an informational meeting on Monday, Sept 25 at 6pm if you are interested in learning about possible future trips abroad. ¡Pura Vida!

2017-2018 Bus Routes

Did you know that school buses are the safest way to transport students?

According to the latest statistics from the National Highway and Traffic Administration, riding a school bus to school is 7 times safer than riding in a passenger vehicle.

In addition, a single school bus can eliminate as many as 36 cars, reducing congestion around a school and also reducing the carbon imprint on the community.

Our District’s Transportation Department has updated the bus routes and inclement weather routes.
