Creslane students recently enjoyed a well earned PBIS monthly celebration of safe, respectful, and responsible student behavior.
February’s celebration was “Soap Box Derby Racing”.
Throughout the month of February classrooms decorated their own Soap Box Derby Racer. Then on race day the customized cars were judged and raced for best time. It all took place in a transformed gymnasium sporting bales of hay for a lined track.
The event’s success was ever so evident by the students broad smiles and laughter.
“The race cars looked terrific and students, staff, and the families in attendance appeared to have a fun time celebrating positive student behaviors at Creslane.
I would like to thank Bill Spencer from The Tire Factory for helping to sponsor this event, as well as being a judge for the PBIS “Soap Box Derby.” I also want to thank Mr. Fenley for briefly coming out of retirement to help with the event and we also appreciate Taylor Worley, the Youth Librarian at the Creswell Library, taking time out of her day to participate in the derby races and serve as a judge.
I want to thank Launa Gwaltney for helping to coordinate and make this fun and highly-motivaitng event for students and for staff possible. Our monthly PBIS events would not happen without Launa and the rest of our amazing volunteers. It is not easy to transform a gym into a race track for roughly 580 students and 100 adults.“ – Principal Beck
