From the District Office: The Creswell City Council, in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and the local VFW, are working on project to honor recent Creswell High School graduates who have served in the armed forces. A big THANK YOU to Dr. Matt Bahen of Emerald Valley Dental for funding the teacher grant requests that the Creswell Education Foundation was not able to cover! It’s wonderful to have this kind of community support.
And another THANK YOU to the Creswell Education Foundation and everyone who attended the fun Bingo night at CHS last Saturday. This will likely become an annual event. All the funds raised will support Creswell school/student needs.
From Creslane: A Civil War canned food drive is underway at Creslane, continuing until Nov. 15. This is the date for the next PBIS event, which will include the U of O cheerleaders, the Eugene Emerald’s mascot and the CMS marching band. There will be lots of games as well as plenty of hot dogs for that afternoon’s celebration. Volunteers are needed from 10-noon to help load the donated food and from noon-2:00 to help with the event itself. Contact the office if you can help.
Pages, an after school program produced by the Creswell Library, continues to meet every Wednesday from 2:15-3:05 in Creslane’s Library. This is a literacy-based program for elementary schoolers, using games, riddles and other creative ideas with picture books, novels, fiction and informational texts. The program is designed with first through third graders in mind, but all K-5 students are welcome.
The SMART reading program is underway at Creslane. If you would like to help with this effort to improve reading, contact Creslane’s SMART Coordinator Lorannda at 541-514-6194 or email@example.com.
From Creswell Middle School: Girls’ basketball is underway, with the 8th graders traveling to Pleasant Hill for a game on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and the 7th graders hosting Emerald Christian that afternoon at 4:30.
From Creswell High School: Try-outs for the winter season of cheer will be held on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 4:00-6:00.
Sign-ups for winter sports are scheduled on Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Cost is $125.00. Practices begin on November 18.
An SAT information/preparation session is planned in the library right after school on Thursday, November 14. LCC is hosting a “College Night in Oregon” session that evening, beginning at 5:30. Both are good opportunities for those whose plans after high school include heading on to college.
