A snippet from “Creswell School News” a weekly news roundup published by Sue Bowers

From the District Office:  Wednesday, June 12 is the last day of classes for all Creswell students.  Creslane will dismiss at 11:30 (after serving lunch), CMS at 12:30 and CHS at 1:36.  Teachers will be recording grades on Thursday. Best wishes to all for a safe and enjoyable summer!

The June School Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the District Office Board Room.  The agenda should be available on the district’s website (www.creswell.k12.or.us) soon.

The Oregon Battle of the Books will go district-wide in Creswell next year.  The Creswell OBOB advisory team will be holding an informational meeting for any interested students (incoming grades 3-12) who would like to get a jump on reading for the fall, along with parents who would like more information or who might like to get involved. The gathering will be held at the Holt Park shelter on Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m.  Visit www.creswell.k12.or.us/obob for more information, or email creswell.obob@gmail.com.

Dental services are available through June 30 for uninsured children at the Lane Community College Dental Clinic at no cost to the family, thanks to funding from the Oregon Community Foundation.  Services include cleaning, x-rays, dental exam and restorative services. Call the LCC Dental Clinic at (541) 463-5206 for more information or to schedule an appointment for your school age children, ages 5-18.

From Creslane:  A PBIS “Staff vs. 5th Grade” basketball game happens Monday, June 10 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Creslane’s gym. Families are welcome to attend the big event.

The final Creslane Coffee Chat and PTO meeting for the year will be on Tuesday, June 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the library.

A great time was had at last Friday’s Family Fun Night.  A second event is now planned for Monday, June 17 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Counseling Program at Creslane is currently looking for volunteers for the 2013-2014 school year. There are many different ways you can be involved and opportunities to put in as much or as little time as you can.  If you’re interested in learning more, please contact Counselor Joy DeMoss at jdemoss@creslane.k12.or.us or 541-895-6157.

From Creswell Middle School:  The Eighth Grade promotion ceremony will be Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the CMS gym.

From Creswell High School: The ASPIRE program at CHS has a new presence on the district website.  Look for the “CHS ASPIRE” link under the “From our Staff and Friends” section on the right side of the home page or hover over “Schools” and “Creswell High School” at the top of the page and click on “ASPIRE @ CHS.”  This is still a work in progress, but eventually you’ll find lots of information to help with planning for post-high school careers and education.
