Creswell’s Tree Board celebrated 2013 Arbor Day at Creslane Elementary School. Where students and Tree Board members alike ceremoniously placed a tag on a flowering dogwood tree in front of the school. The new tag serves as a marker identifying the flowering dogwood tree as a special community “Heritage Tree.”
The tree tag was provided by the Oregon Department of Forestry and quantifies the value of the tree to the Creswell community.
Well before any tagging, this tree served another honor. This flowering dogwood was planted several years ago in honor of Mrs. Barbara Kennedy, a beloved Creswell School District instructor and librarian. As a true heritage tree, already special to Creswell, and with roots firmly planted this tree will serve as marker for years to come.
