CHS Volleyball Rules - 2006

 

Lines of Communication:

1. If there is and issue that needs to be discussed:

††††† A. The player needs to make an appointment with the coach (this is a good learning

opportunity for athletes).

††††† B. If there is no resolution then the parent and athlete should make an appointment

with the coach.

††††† C. If there is still no resolution then an appointment with the athletic director

and coach should be arranged.

2. Coaches will not talk to parents unless they have spoken with the player first.

††††† 3. Coaches have a lot of responsibilities on game days, so this is never a good

time to take up issues with them.

††††† 4. Playing time is not a topic for discussion.If a player wants to know what they

can do to help the team, their role, or learn other positions we would love to talk

about that.

 

Game Day Rules:

1. Attend school the entire day to compete.

2. Always behave as a positive representative for our team and school. 3. Players

recovering from an injuries will sit on the bench, but not in uniform. 4. Players

late to the gym may be removed from the roster.

5. The only person who may address the referee is the captain.

††††† 6. Players on the bench will: encourage their teammates on the floor, keep a

positive attitude, and be ready to go in at any time.

7. Playing time:

††††† A. Varsity - no guaranteed playing time

††††† B. Junior Varsity 1 - players are guaranteed 1 game a week in their position (this

may be only the back or front row)

††††† C. Junior Varsity 2 - players are guaranteed 2 games a week in their position (this

may be only the back or front row)

††††† *** Playing time is also determined by attendance to practice and any other

agreements the coach has with a player(such as tardiness, being a team player, and

coachability).

 

Travel Rules:

1. Players must be on time, the bus does not wait.

2. All athletes must ride the bus to the contest.

3. Players may ride home with their parents only as long as their parents sign them

out.

4. Players recovering from and injury still travel with the team.

5. Players with equipment duties have them for the entire trip.

††††† 6. Parents need to pick-up athletes as soon as possible when we return from an away

contest.Coaches stay to make sure all athletes get picked up.

 

Practice Rules:

1. We start and end on time.On time is 10 minutes prior to scheduled practice times.

††††† If you are going to be late or leave early let the coach know.

2. Nets are set-up by players before any balls come out to play.

3. No talking while the coach is giving instructions

4. Always hustle & keep positive body posture!

5. Do your best to shag your own ball without disturbing other athletes.

††††† 6. Stay involved in drills especially when you are shagging.You can learn a lot

by watching, listening and from the mistakes of others.

7. Report illness or injuries to the coaches immediately.

8. Hand balls to coach or put balls into the carts; do not throw the ball.†† 9.

Remove all jewelry and gum.

10. Keep gym and locker room clean.

11. Always call for the ball three times, example MINE, MINE, MINE &...12. Bring a

note book to store hand-outs and take notes.

13. Bring an extra pair of shoes to run outside.
