BOARD AGENDA FACT SHEET

CRESWELL SCHOOL DISTRICT #40

MEETING DATE:   9-12-07  DATE PREPARED:  9-5-07

AGENDA ITEM:  #15  AGENDA TITLE:  Short Term Investments

ITEM REQUESTED BY:  Business Manager

SUMMARY:  The Business Manager requests that the Bond funds be invested where the district has a better return on the money.  The best means to do this is through a short-term investment (STI).  STIs are normally pools (STIP), but as noted in 8.0 other investments may also be utilized.

SUPERINTENDENT’S ADVICE:  While the documents identify the process as a “policy,” it is not a Board Policy with the normal accoutrements.  These proposed investment procedures operate within Board Policy already in place for investments, and only address short-term investments.  STIPs are usually low-risk mechanisms with slightly higher yield.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ATTACHED:  Documents entitled “Short-Form Investment Policy” and “Investment Procedure” were emailed to the board.  Hard copies will be available at the board meeting.
