SUMMARY: Policy DIE requires that the board be presented a copy of the audit report. Past boards have considered this an action item on the agenda but action is not required.

SUPERINTENDENT'S ADVICE: A copy of the audit has not been available at this date (12-04-02) and no exit interview has been conducted with the

superintendent. I have heard of no anomalies so I am presuming it is a

clean audit.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ATTACHED: copies of the audit will accompany fact sheets if they are in the office in time to do that. Otherwise they will be made available to the Budget Board as soon as we get them.

SUPERINTENDENT'S ADVICE: This item was a discussion topic at the Board work session on 12-04-02. Barring some immaculate revival the State Legislature, these funds are necessary to preserve District programs.

SUMMARY: The Policy Committee and superintendent have worked together to create an overview for evaluating the district curriculum. Policy IM attempts to set some basic parameters as an evaluation tool.

SUPERINTENDENT'S ADVICE: The final piece to the whole matter of curriculum development is to put in place a process for determining whether or not the assessments of learner outcomes are acceptable. While the board does not get involved in the data collection nor the formation of the scope/sequence/learner outcomes, the board does need to review summative data and establish policy which outlines the entire curriculum development process. Policy IM is a model I have used in my consulting work with other districts and it does represent best practices from highly effective schooling research. The percents used in IM's proposal are open to debate, but I would argue that they are a good starting point and can be refined as time and data collections lend more information to the process.
