·         As reported in January this department was working with Dr. Adler on the Title IID - Enhancing Education through Technology Competitive Grant.   With the assistance of Lane ESD and a partnership with South Lane School District, our application was submitted to the state.  The total grant request is $134,848.   The grant request includes technical professional development for district staff and 198 Palm OS Handhelds for participating staff and students.    Wish us luck!

·         Using two grant funds, the ES main lab computer towers were replaced with new units having Windows XP as the operating system.   This is exciting news for the ES students and staff.  The ES lab was the oldest lab of the three schools.  Performance lags were becoming everyday occurrences for the network-supported programs being utilized by students and staff.   

·         As next year’s budget preparation begins this department will be exploring the development of a stipend Pentamation Support Specialist position as well as an additional .45 FTE Technology Support Specialist.  The every increasing integration of technology into our schools educational model and workload warrants this development.
